Dr Pretty Basra is our consultant optometrist and children’s vision specialist. She’s one the most respected optometrists in her profession, having twice been recognised as one of the top 5 optometrists in the UK at the National Optician Awards.
With a career spanning over 20 years, and having previously worked at the prestigious Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham, Pretty has been the lead optometrist at Edwards & Walker now since 2015.
In addition, she has worked tirelessly to help develop and represent eyecare across all walks of life including trips to Botswana and Zambia to deliver vision aid overseas and training to students who have no access to optometry teaching – an experience which she describes as truly humbling.
In 2024, she also completed her doctorate, having written a thesis on how children’s vision screening at school can be improved and standardised in the UK.

“I’ve always wanted to be an optometrist from a very young age. My own experiences with vision were quite traumatic when I was young so I knew this is what I wanted to help others with as I got older. It’s why I’m so passionate about eyes because I truly believe everyone should have the chance to see the best they can see.”
